Upon your arrival at the international airport in Kathmandu, our representative members will welcome you and bring up to the hotel and take rest. At night we will provide you as a welcome dinner in Nepalese restaurant. Overnight at Hotel. (Meal Included: Dinner)
Kathmandu valley sightseeing and trek preparation (1,300m)
Today we will visit Kathmandu valley, we start a guide tour to four of UNESCO world heritages sites in Kathmandu. At first we start our day from Kathmandu Durbar Square holds the palaces of the medieval kings who ruled over the Kathmandu kingdom. Then we will visit Pashupatinath temple which is lies at the bank of Bagmati river. The aryaghat alongside Pashupati and on the banks of the Bagmati river is a famous site for the Hidus.the Buddhist shrine of Boudhanath is one of the largest stupa in the world, and one of the holiest Buddhist pilgrimage and tourist destination in Kathmandu. The area of Boudhnath is also famous for Tibetan Gompas or monasteries. At last but not the list we will visit swayambhunath meaning the “the self-existent” which is popular as the monkey temple owing to the large number of monkeys and we return back to the hotel take rest. At evening we will talk about our trib with our. Guide will give some briefing about our trek and rules. Overnight at Hotel. (Meal Included: Breakfast)
Kathmandu to Nepalgunj by flight.
Today we will fly to the western side of Nepal. It is about an hour flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj, Which is situated near by Nepal – India border. Nepalgunj is the gateway to simikot of Humla, the hometown itself is an interesting terai town of Nepal with influences from both Hindus and Muslim cultures. Some sightseeing places in Nepalgunj include mini 200, Muslim bazaar and walk into nearby villages. Overnight at Hotel. (Meal Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
Nepalgunj to Juphal by flight & trek to Dunai 3-4 hours.
Early morning, after breakfast we take a morning flight to Jhupal. 45 minutes of flight over the high mountains bring us at Jhupal over the Himalayan foothills with exclusive views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri peaks to the north. After arriving at jhupal there our trekking staffs will receive us. Our first day adventure begins through the terraced fields to the Bheri River and the narrow gorge taking 2-3 hours to camps at Dunai. Overnight at Tented Camp. Dunai to Ankhe 5-6 hours.
We leave Dunai and cross a suspension bridge and turn to the west following a trail pass a hospital. The trail ascends up the side of the treeless, Thulo Bheri valley before entering Phoksundo river valley. Finally reach to another ridge which is marked by cairns at 2,499m. The pleasure walk leads to a large side canyon, then descending gently on the downhill slope through the scattered houses and walnut groves to a stream leads to Dhera and Rahagaun villages, walk down dense jungle and finally reach to Ankhe. Ankhe to Sulighat 5-6 hours.
Today, our trail ascends and descends along a wooden riverbank and climbs on a steep trail. The trail eventually leaves the forests and traverses a grassy slope high above the river. After reaching the river at 2,950m, the trail becomes a collection of rocky and sticks that form a dyke along the river bank. We trek downhill on a trail surrounded by lush forests before reaching a cliff followed by a dizzying drop on a wobbly stone staircase to the riverbank. Continue walking until we reach to Sulighat. Sulighat to Phoksundo Lake 4-5 hours.
We continue our trek along the valley floor to the confluence of the Phoksundo and Pungmo rivers. After crossing to the western side of the Phoksundo River on a wooden bridge the path follows to the western bank of the Pungmo River which leads all the way to PHoksundo Lake near Ringmo village. From here it is a short walk to the shores of the Phoksundo Lake. Overnight at Tented Camp . (Meal Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
Rest day at Phoksundo Lake.
Today, we spend ou whole day at Phoksundo Lake. Acclimatization is very important in certain intervals of days. During the day we can embark on a short hike to the village of Ringmo and its Tibetan Buddhist Monastery. durning our short walks, we also get a chance to get acquainted with the local culture. The local people wear homespun clothing that is sometimes dyed a maroon color and they favour Tibetan style Somba. Somba means “boots with upturned toes” for foot wear. The village now has solar panels helping to improve the quality of life of the villagers. Overnight at Tented Camp . (Meal Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
Phoksundo Lake to Phoksundo khola 4-5 hours.
We follow the trail that skirts the edge of the lake itself. This precarious trail is suspended on a gangway of wood supported on legs, driven into crevices in the rocks and signals the remoteness of the area you are about to enter. At the western most edge of the lake the path leads through a lush meadow that opens up into the flood plain of the Phoksundo River. Overnight at Tented Camp . Phoksundo Khola to Phoksundo Bhanjyang 6-7 hours.
Today, first hour trail leads along the level path through a glacial valley that now heads to north. At the confluence of the Phoksundo River and mountain stream, there is an old wooden bridge. Here taking the barely distinct path to the north- east of the valley. A hard climb to the top brings us to yet another valley where we can see the Kang- La pass which will leads towards shey Gomba. Phoksundo Bhanjyang to Shey Gompa via Kang- La pass 5-6 hours.
Today, our trail ascends on a steep trail with slate towards the pass. The climb to the top of the pass is quite difficult and on the slate screed. From the top of kang- La 5,360m, there are excellent views down upon a large valley which is bisected by a gushing River. Our trail descends steeply to the valley floor, then our path leads a long meandering trek along the banks of the river. There are mud caves lining the hills overlooking the river and we pass through meadows where yaks, hundreds of sheep and domestic mountain goat can be found grazing. After walking about 5-6 hrs we reach to our destination at Shey- Gompa. Overnight at Tented Camp. (Meal Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
Rest day at Shey Gompa.
Today we take rest at Shey Gompa. We explore the hidden treasures of the site and entire day. Shey means crystal- this monastery is also known as the crystal mountain which is one of the strangest mountain as its contorted cliffs are laced with quartz and embedded with a rich variety of marine fossils. We spend the day hiking around shey village which is famous for its ancients pre- Buddhist culture, Shey Gompa stands above the confluence of Kangju nala and Yeju Nala. Overnight at Tented Camp. Shey Gompa to Namduna Gaun via Saldang la 6-7 hours.
The day begins by following a pleasant trail amidst juniper which descends into a grey, stony canyon. The trail begins to zig Zag over bare rocks and coarse eroded soil until it eventually brings us to the top os Saldang- La 5,200m. On the way towards the north which is long and tiring but we finally come upon the welcome sight of pastures of grazing yaks and sheep, and nomadic tents. This trail leads us to Namduna Gaun. Like shey, the Namgung monastery is of the karma pa sect. The monastery a red stone structure is built against the backdrop of a cliff on the north wall of a gorge. The red and white colors of the gimpy and its stupas are the only color in this stark landscape. Peoples if Namduna heartily welcome us. It is a beautiful place with friendly environment. Namduna to Saldang 4-5 hours.
Today, our trek to Saldang starts with climbing a tree slope and path goes high above the Namgung River and then descends steeply to the village of Saldang. Saldang is the largest settlement of Inner- Dolpo. Though the village lies at about the same altitude as Ringmo it is totally different then Ringmo, a Himalayan village is situated below the tree line while saldang belongs to the arid zone of the Trans Himalayan Tibetan plateau. Saldang is a prosperous village not only agriculturally but also for its strategic location on a trade route to Tibet. Overnight at Tented Camp . (Meal Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
Saldang to yangze Gompa 4-5 hours.
We move towards to yangze Gompa. The trail follows the Nang Chu River most of the way on this wild barren windswept terrain. And walking through the fairly gradual path with few ups and downs slope and then passing through the small settlement of tiling and Lurigaon till we reach to our destination camp at Yangze Gompa. Yangze Gompa to Sibu 6-7 hours.
From Yangze there are two ways that connect Sibu. The long way trail heads due west passing through the very remote villages of Nishalgaon and further past Shimengaon. To save our time we will retrace the trail back towards Saldang village which will be easier and shorter than the other north western route. From saldang village our trail follows the river bed that pass through terraced fields, stupas, Chortens heaps of mani stones and a Chaiba monastery, then passing through the namdo village. From here it stretches for more than 5km on the high slopes to the left of Nam Khong Khola. Our trail continues further down the river for another two hours to camp near the hamlet village Sibu. Sibu to Jengla - 4-5 hours. Overnight at Tented Camp.
We walk along the Nam Khong Khola for a while and pass by caravans with yaks that are moving towards the Tibetan border. After turning east and walking for a while, we arrive at a confluence of two small streams. Next, the steep trail ascends to a grazing area below the Jeng La pass (4,900m/16,072ft). Our camp will be set up in this beautiful meadow. Overngiht in Jeng la Phediat tented camp. (Meal Included :Breakfast Lunch Dinner)
Jengla to Tokyo Gaon 6-7 hours, Overnight at Tented Camp
We get up early in the morning and set forth on today’s trek. It will take us two long hours to reach the top of the Jeng La pass from where we get remarkable views of the north face of the Dhaualgiri massif. From here we descend on a rough trail to the Tarap Valley, a fascinating valley with vast plains in high mountains that extends twenty kilometers along Tarap Chu river. We camp close to the monastery at Tokyu. (Included meals:Breakfast Lunch & Dinner)
Tokyo Gaon to Dho Tarap - 2 hours, Overnight at Tented Camp.
We trek downhill on a plain valley with patches of lush grass on both sides of the river which is completely different from other parts of inner Dolpo. There is also a marsh which is a common feature in the Desert Mountains of Tibet and the Ladakh Himalaya. Both the Bon Po and Buddhist sects are practiced in the valley. After a short trek, we reach Dho Tarap). Overnight in Dho Tarap. (Meal Included:Breakfast Lunch & Dinner)
Dho Tarap to Serkam 6- 7 hours , Overnight at Tented Camp.
The trails today move mostly downhill with narrows gores and rivers below. There are several small uphills and downhills, though, along which we will be able to see blue sheep, yaks, marmots and so forth. Narrow at some stretches, the trails are really exhilarating to walk on due to the way it’s been carved inside cliff faces. Overnight in Serkam at tented camp. Serkam to Tarakot 5-6 hours, Overnight at Tented Camp.
It calls for an exciting day of trek as we climb downhill from Serkam. At some places we cross small rivers by stepping on the stones and at other times we cross rivers through long suspension bridges. People near Tarakot raise various crops like millet, barley, buckwheat, chillies and marijuana and we pass through many such crop fields. Tarakot is a small and prosperous village of the Dolpo region and is extremely popular around the otherwise barren region. Overnight stay at a tented camp. (Meal Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
Tarakot to Dunai - 5/ 6 hours. Overnight at Tented Camp.
Trek to Dunai from Tarakot is relatively easy and we walk along the banks of the Bheri River for almost 4-5 hours before we reach the beautiful Dunai. Dunai is the district headquarters of Dolpa. Dunai was attacked by the Maoist rebels during the period of insurgency. Dunai is also the end of the Upper Dolpo Trek and from here on we return back to Kathmandu via Nepalgunj. Dunai to Juphal - 3-4 hours. Overnight at Tented Camp.
On the 23rd day, we climb uphill for a short period of time to reach Jhupal from where the entire trek started almost three weeks ago. It is a short trek as we reach Jhupal in less than three hours. For the rest of the day we will stay at tented camp in Jhupal preparing for the flight to Nepalgunj next day. (Meal Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
Flight Nepalgang – Kathmandu. Overnight at Hotel.
Early in the morning, we will fly to Nepalgunj from Jhupal. The flight will again remind you of the amazing landscape of Nepal. After some time of reaching Nepalgunj, we will take another flight to Kathmandu, the Capital city. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu. (Meal Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
Our journey in Nepal comes to an end. Today our staff will drop you to the airport approximately 3 hours before of your scheduled flight. (Meal Included: Breakfast)
