Trip Itinerary of Annapurna Base Camp Short Trek In Nepal
Arrival in Kathmandu
A representative from Core Treks will come to pick you up at the airport. After that we'll be taking you to your hotel. We'll have a short briefing session and feel free to ask any question you might have regarding the trek. If you want to explore the city we might as well walk around the street of Thamel and it's even possible to do some last minute shopping. There're no further activities for the day so you might as well check into the hotel.
Kathmandu to Pokhara
We'll be heading to Pokhara on this day. There are two options regarding our travel to Pokhara; by air travel or by drive. A flight would take around 25 minutes to reach whereas driving to Pokhara might take around 7 hours. It depends on how you want to travel. Whether you want to enjoy the scenic highway drive of Nepal or a short scenic flight and enjoy the rest of the day at chilling or exploring Pokhara.
Pokhara to Khade to Landruk
Upon having breakfast we make an hour drive to Khada. From there, our trekking towards Annapurna region begins. We make our way towards the village of Landruk. Our walk will be around 5 hours long. As we walk along, we enjoy the tranquil view of the Himalayan ranges including Annapurna and Manaslu.
Landruk to Sinuwa
The trail ascends steeply over to the mountain side. We embark on a damp trail towards the rhododendron and bamboo forests. The trail is lined with petrified trees and sienna foliage. Upon reaching Sinuwa, we'll call it a day and rest for the day.
Sinuwa to Deurali
We continue our walk further towards Deurali. We will pass through the village of Himalaya which a trail lined with verdant trees and sienna foliage.
Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp
After a steady hike on this day, we reach to the Machhapurchhre Base Camp from where excellent view of the fishtail mountain can be witnessed along with Mt Hiunchuli, Annapurna I, Annapurna III and Annapurna South. After bit of a walk from there, we'll reach to the Annapurna Base Camp beneath the foothills of the 10th highest mountain peak in the world.
Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo
We descend down towards Modi Khola at Bamboo and dropping our elevation to 1700 meters. The area is not as dense as travelers are greeted with cold breeze where travelers can also find a bit of a solitude. We'll call it a day upon reaching Bamboo.
Bamboo to Jhinu Dada
We begin our day with walking to Chhomrong and pass through Kalgidhar. As we approach Chhomrong, the trail descends down towards Jhinu Danda where there's also a hot spring by the river bank which is an amazing place to be. This place really is something of a treat on our hard walk.
Jhinu Dada to Siwai to Pokhara
After having our breakfast we trek towards the town of Siwai as it will also be our last walk of this trekking journey. After walking for about 3 hours we reach to Siwai from where we'll drive back to Pokhara. We'll spend the evening in the lakeside Pokhara and enjoy its nightlife as we head back to Kathmandu the next day.
Pokhara to Kathmandu
We'll return back to Kathmandu via the mode of transportation of your choice (i.e. by air flight or by drive). We'll drive back to Kathmandu and back to your hotel. After resting for a bit, we'll be organizing a dinner party for our fellow guests where you'll be taken to a traditional Nepalese cuisine restaurant.
Our travel journey has now come to an end as we say our goodbyes and take you to the Tribhuvan International Airport 2 hours prior to your flight time. We'll come to pick you at your hotel and a representative will drive alongside you up till the departure gate at the airport.

Symptoms of Altitude Sickness may start once you reach 1500-2000 meters and upwards. If you gain altitude rapidly without letting your body adapt to the thin oxygen at higher altitudes, you are most likely to suffer from Altitude Sickness. But if you plan for acclimatization days to your itinerary, you are good to go.
The itinerary includes acclimatization days to avoid Altitude Sickness. The sickness is common at high altitudes. Please note that sickness is a topic to be taken very seriously. Here are some few extra preventions:
- Avoid climbing rapidly, give your body some time to adjust
- Drink more water, not less than 5 liters a day
- Eat more, eat often, and eat healthily
- Listen to your body, do not ignore symptoms
- Do not skip acclimatization days
- Be prepared in case of an emergency
Safety and Security
A comprehensive Travel Insurance is mandatory while trekking with CoreTreks. However, there are a few measures that you can implement to ensure safety:

On average, walking time per day is 5-6 hours below 3,000m. For altitudes higher than 3,000m the average walking time is 3-5 hours per day. The walking hours may vary according to conditions but do not exceeds 6 hours mark per day.
Hiring a Porter/Guide
An experienced guide will be provided for a group of 1-5. A group consisting of 6-12 individuals will be provided with 2 professional guides. The package also includes a porter for every 2 individuals.
