Nepal, being rich in arts and culture, is an important destination for educational tour. The country has history in fine arts and architecture but not limited to that. Nepal is widely known for being diverse, whether it’s the topography or the culture. The tallest mountain of the world, Everest is situated in Nepal. The country carries huge religious significance as it is believed to be the birthplace of Lord Buddha. With all this, Nepal is not only an ideal destination for trekking and touring, it also holds educational values.
Students from all over the world visit Nepal for research purposes. The mores of Nepalese society is fascinating and a topic of research in itself let alone the scenery. CoreTreks has recently introduced Educational Tour in Nepal which takes students to different places within Nepal that reflects how the times have been changed and how the ancient contributions have led to current Nepal. The major educational tour locations include Patan Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Pokhara, Pashupatinath, Bauddhanath Stupa and many more.
Our intention with the Educational Tour in Nepal is to provide students from inside or outside Nepal a chance to educate and improvise their learnings with a practical approach. Trip Itinerary of Educational Tour in Nepal
Arrival in Kathmandu & Transfer to the hotel
Our representative from CoreTreks will pick you up from the airport and take you to a hotel. The hotels are three-star or above based on your preference. We will have a brief session about our trek and a little bit of sightseeing or shopping around the streets of Thamel. The overnight stay will be at the hotel.
Trip to Patan Durbar Square & Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Drive to Nagarkot
After having our breakfast, we drive for around half an hour to Patan Durbar Square. The square is situated at the center of the city of Lalitpur. The palace is an attraction to many due to the fact that royal Malla Kings used to reside there. Besides that, the square is also a marvel of Newar architecture. Krishna Mandir, Bhimsen Temple, Bhimsen Temple, etcetera are some of the temples that we will be visiting.
Then we drive to the infamous Bhaktapur Durbar Square. The square was beautifully crafted by ancient artists. Since then, the place has been renovated but the originality of the place still lies. It is a decent destination for studies of architecture and structures. After Bhaktapur we drive to Nagarkot for about couple of hours once we leave the city. Our overnight stay will be at Nagarkot.
Drive to Gorkha & Overnight stay at Gorkha
From Nagarkot, we will drive to Gorkha District which is named after the legendary Gurkha soldiers. The drive is around of 5 hours considering it is 142km from Nagarkot. The place holds significant value to Nepal and Nepalese. Gorkha contains some of the best attractions such as Manakamana Temple, Gorakhnatah, Gorakhhali Temple, and many more. Overnight stay will be at Gorkha.
Optional Trip: As an optional trip to Gorkha we offer rafting in Trishuli River if interested, the cost will be $40 per person including transportation, 2 hours of rafting and lunch.
Drive to Pokhara & visit to International Mountain Museum
On this day we start early since we have a long drive to Pokhara. After having our breakfast, we jump in the vehicle and then we wait. Enjoying the curved highways and beautiful scenery as we head outside the valley, drive to Pokhara is an amazing and somewhat thrilling experience in itself. There will be several break stops before finally arriving to Pokhara. Upon arriving to Pokhara we will then visit to International Mountain Museum. The museum is a perfect way to gain some insights on the history of Nepal as well as the Himalaya. The drive to Pokhara is pretty exhausting, so we spend the night at the hotel.
Visit in Sarankot & Sightseeing in Pokhara
Early morning drive to Sarankot from the hotel in order to see the sunrise. The driving is approximately 45 minutes to reach Sarankot. After enjoying our morning with beautiful panoramic view of the mountains we get back to the hotel. After breakfast, we prepare for the Pokhara tour. Pokhara contains numerous tourism destination and is widely famous among the locals too. Davis Fall, Gupteshor, Bat Cave, Bindabishini Temple, World Peace Stupa and Tibetan Refugee Camp are some of the major destination within Pokhara that we will be visiting to. Our overnight stay will be at the hotel.
Drive back to Kathmandu
Today we have a long day ahead. After some breakfast, we will hop in the car and start our journey back to Kathmandu. We stop at a few places for snacks and then we continue. After successfully reaching at Kathmandu, we prepare for tomorrows UNESCO tour in Kathmandu and have dinner. Overnight stay will be at Kathmandu hotel.
Sightseeing in Kathmandu 4 Places
((Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath, Pashupatinath & Bauddhanath stupa).
After having our breakfast, we drive for around half an hour to Kathmandu Durbar Square. The old royal of Kathmandu Kingdom is one of three Durbar. The Kathmandu Durbar Square held the palaces of the Malla and Shah Kings who used to rule over the city. So, the palace has a significant amount of value to researchers and for history seekers.
Then we drive to the famous Pashupatinath temple. Located at 3km northwest of Kathmandu, Pashupatinath is one of the eight UNESCO Cultural Heritage Sites of Kathmandu Valley. The temple reflects cultural, religious, and spiritual belief of the Hindu religion. People from all over the world come to get blessings from Pashupatinath.
After successful visit to Pashupatinath, we head towards Bauddhanath Stupa. Rich in Buddhist symbolism, the stupa is considered the largest stupa in Nepal. It is located on the eastern side of Kathmandu. The place is an important pilgrimage for Tibetan Buddhists as well as local people. Then we head back to hotel to spend the night after such a long and tiring day.
Departure Day
The educational tour has finally come to an end. After bidding our goodbyes a representative from CoreTreks will transport you to Tribhuvan International Airport around 3 hours before your flight departure. Since, it might take some time for you to board a plane, we make sure that there is enough time for all the procedures at the airport.

Altitude Sickness:
Symptoms of Altitude Sickness may start once you reach 1500-2000 meters and upwards. If you gain altitude rapidly without letting your body adapt to the thin oxygen at higher altitudes, you are most likely to suffer from Altitude Sickness. But if you plan for acclimatization days to your itinerary, you are good to go.
The itinerary includes acclimatization days to avoid Altitude Sickness. The sickness is common at high altitudes. Please note that sickness is a topic to be taken very seriously. Here are some few extra preventions:
- Avoid climbing rapidly, give your body some time to adjust
- Drink more water, not less than 5 liters a day
- Eat more, eat often, and eat healthily
- Listen to your body, do not ignore symptoms
- Do not skip acclimatization days
- Be prepared in case of an emergency
Safety and Security
A comprehensive Travel Insurance is mandatory while trekking with CoreTreks. However, there are a few measures that you can implement to ensure safety:
- Secure your belongings
- Do not flash cash or jewelry
- Have an emergency plan
- Do not trek alone
- Only choose authorized trekking agencies
Trekking Equipment
CoreTreks will provide you with the essentials such as a Down jacket, four seasonal sleeping bags, a duffle bag, a t-shirt, a trekking map, a self-sufficient medical first aid kit, and more. These are to be returned after completion of the trek.
Personal mountaineering gears are not included but we will provide you with a list of equipment necessary for your trek.
Walking Hours
On average, walking time per day is 5-6 hours below 3,000m. For altitudes higher than 3,000m the average walking time is 3-5 hours per day. The walking hours may vary according to conditions but do not exceeds 6 hours mark per day.
Hiring a Porter/Guide
An experienced guide will be provided for a group of 1-5. A group consisting of 6-12 individuals will be provided with 2 professional guides. The package also includes a porter for every 2 individuals.
