The Gokyo valley is a nestled valley where lies the Gokyo Lake which is also the source to the Dudh Koshi River situated at an elevation of 4,790m.The views of the mountain ranges of Everest region are truly astounding from the Gokyo Valley and the beauty of the Everest region can be witnessed in its most refined form. This Himalayan trek is also special as travelers can behold four mountain peaks which have height above 8,000 meters. Those mountain peaks of Nepal are Cho Oyu (8188m), Mt. Everest (8848m), Mt. Lhotse (8749m), and Mt. Makalu (8485m). Also, one of the most remarkable features of the Gokyo trek is the view of the tremendous ice ridge between Cho Oyu and Gyachung located in the Everest region. The most desirable time for the Gokyo Valley trek in the Everest region of Nepal is at the tail end of the monsoon, when flowers blooming throughout the Nagpala give trekkers the illusion of walking across a textured and colorful carpet. The aroma while walking clears the minds and makes for a sweet slumber sleep during the night.
The Gokyo Valley trek is also famous for its cultural aspect, especially regarding the Sherpa community who are also recognized to be the guardians of the Himalayas. During the trekking to Everest region, travelers will be passing through many of the Sherpa villages that lie on Nepal's Everest region. The unique lifestyle, culture, foods and heritage are something you won't get to see anywhere else on earth. The Himalayan Yak and the Himalayan Thar can be seen along the trails and if you're lucky you might encounter the Himalayan Monal also known as Danfe in its splendor and beauty. It is also the national bird of Nepal and they're truly an exquisite species of bird. The flora and faunas of this region are few but they certainly are quite unique and some are even very rare.
Our trek to Gokyo Valley starts from Kathmandu when we take a short flight to Lukla. Lukla is also known as the gateway to Everest as it is where the treks within the Everest region start from. During our trek, we will be passing through several Sherpa settlements of Phakding, Namche Bazzar, Dole, and many more. The Gokyo-Everest Base Camp trek offers a mesmerizing experience of natural wonders, unique geographical phenomena, beautiful cross-cultural discovery, and the mesmerizing Himalayas wrapping their arms around the calm blue waters of Gokyo Lake.

Namche to Lukla
The trail from Namche Bazzar to Lukla is the same trail we will be passing through while ascending towards Namche Bazzar. The trail will be much easier as it is going downhill and lesser altitude. A different experience
From: Australia | On: 05 Feb, 2015
I enjoyed the trekking. As an online professional, I need to be connected to internet literally all the time.
While the guiding team were brilliant and dedicated in their services, the connection was very poor during my trek. I missed some important work mails.
Besides that I recommend CoreTreks for their pricing and services. I would suggest one thing if you are looking to travel in local residence of Nepal, beware of the cellular connection.
