The Ghorepani Poonhill trek in Nepal is one of the best short treks in Nepal. The trek starts from Pokhara going through villages of the Annapurna Region and the Annapurna circuit trek. It is quite a short trek in Nepal that can be finished within 7-9 days. There are different trekking routes that you can choose while going towards and coming back from Ghorepani each with their own unique flair. The sunrise you can view from the Poonhill is something to behold from. Mostly travelers at Ghorepani wake up at the dawn and make the Poonhill trekking towards hill top which will take about an hour to climb. The short hike to Poonhill in itself is amazing, gazing through the starry skies you'll reach to Poonhill and from there you'll be able to view amazing scenery of Himalayan Ranges of Nepal such as Mt. Dhulagiri (8,167m), Nilgiri (7,061m), Annapurna South (7,219m) Annapurna I (8,091m) Fishtail (6,997m), Mardi Himal (5,553m) Manaslu ( 8,156mwhich will take anyone's breath away.

Trip Itinerary of Ghorepani Poonhill Trek In Nepal
Arrival in Kathmandu
A representative from Core Treks will come to pick you up at the airport. After that we'll be taking you to your hotel. We'll have a short briefing session and feel free to ask any question you might have regarding the trek. If you want to explore the city we might as well walk around the street of Thamel and it's even possible to do some last minute shopping. There're no further activities for the day so you might as well check into the hotel.
Kathmandu to Pokhara
Kathmandu to Pokhara We'll be heading to Pokhara on this day. There are two options regarding our travel to Pokhara; by air travel or by drive. A flight would take around 25 minutes to reach whereas driving to Pokhara might take around 8 hours. It depends on how you want to travel. Whether you want to enjoy the scenic highway drive of Nepal or a short scenic flight and enjoy the rest of the day at chilling or exploring Pokhara,
Pokhara to Hille to Ulleri
Our trekking journey starts this day onwards. Upon having our breakfast, we drive towards Hille. After 3 hours of drive we'll be reaching Hille and we began a short hike ascending up to the village of Ulleri where we'll stay for the night.
Ulleri to Ghorepani
We walk towards Ghorepani on this day following verdant trails along the way. The trail is really beautiful filled with streams and some small waterfalls as well as we walk through the rhododendron forests. We'll also be trekking along the beautiful views of the beautiful Himalayas such as the Fishtail mountain and the Annapurna ranges. Upon 5 to 6 hours of walking, we'll be reaching the Ghorepani village where we'll be resting for the rest of the day. We can even explore the village for a bit as there are also lots of fun activities to do around the village.
Ghorepani to Poonhill to Tadapani
We wake up early at the dawn on this day as we hike upon the Poonhill hill station. We reach there before sunrise walking beneath the starry sky. This is something you won't get to see at many places on earth as we walk beholding the beauty of night sky with sunlight slowly taking over and giving us splendid views of the Annapurna range. The panoramic view of the Himalayan ranges seen from the Poonhill station truly makes the journey so worth it. After spending some time at the hill station and getting all the pictures we need, we head back to Ghorepani and upon having breakfast we resume our trek as we walk towards Tadapani.
Tadapani to Ghandruk to Pokhara
This is our final day of trekking. We descend towards the culturally rich village of Ghandruk from Tadapani. We'll be reaching to Ghandruk sometime during the noon where we'll also be stopping for lunch. The village is beautiful filled with stone houses and stone-paved paths all over. After that we head back towards Pokhara by vehicles, as our trek has come to an end.
Pokhara to Kathmandu
We'll return back to Kathmandu via the mode of transportation of your choice (i.e. by air flight or by drive). We'll drive back to Kathmandu and back to your hotel. After resting for a bit, we'll be organizing a dinner party for our fellow guests where you'll be taken to a traditional Nepalese cuisine restaurant.
Departure
Our travel journey has now come to an end as we say our goodbyes and take you to the Tribhuvan International Airport 2 hours prior to your flight time. We'll come to pick you at your hotel and a representative will drive alongside you up till the departure gate at the airport.

Altitude Sickness:
Symptoms of Altitude Sickness may start once you reach 1500-2000 meters and upwards. If you gain altitude rapidly without letting your body adapt to the thin oxygen at higher altitudes, you are most likely to suffer from Altitude Sickness. But if you plan for acclimatization days to your itinerary, you are good to go.
The itinerary includes acclimatization days to avoid Altitude Sickness. The sickness is common at high altitudes. Please note that sickness is a topic to be taken very seriously. Here are some few extra preventions:
- Avoid climbing rapidly, give your body some time to adjust
- Drink more water, not less than 5 liters a day
- Eat more, eat often, and eat healthily

Trekking Equipment

Personal mountaineering gears are not included but we will provide you with a list of equipment necessary for your trek.
Walking Hours
On average, walking time per day is 5-6 hours below 3,000m. For altitudes higher than 3,000m the average walking time is 3-5 hours per day. The walking hours may vary according to conditions but do not exceeds 6 hours mark per day.
Hiring a Porter/Guide
An experienced guide will be provided for a group of 1-5. A group consisting of 6-12 individuals will be provided with 2 professional guides. The package also includes a porter for every 2 individuals.
