This classic trek in Nepal combines three areas of the Himalayan region in Nepal along the border of Tibet which are Langtang, Gosainkunda, and Helambu. The Langtang-Gosaikunda-Helambu trek takes you along the beautiful Langtang Valley filled with many pristine and serene lakes in the backdrop of the snow clad mountains. This trek in Nepal gives travelers a chance to experience the splendor of the Himalayan beauty along with unique Tibetan cultural taste that has been in existence since ancient times. The Langtang region trek is a 2 in 1 travel package that lets travelers experience the natural beauty along with cultural taste.
The other attraction of this trekking tour in Nepal is the Gosainkunda (4380m) where there are several beautiful lakes formed out of the mountains of Langtang region. The Gosainkunda Lake is also a famous pilgrimage site among Hindu and Buddhist people and each year during the month of August, hundreds of devotees come at this place. There are three major lakes this this region, namely Gosaikunda, Saraswatikunda, and Bhairavkunda. Among these, Gosaikunda is the largest and the place is beautiful filled with scenic natural landscapes.
Moving onto the Helambu trek, the Helambu region is regarded as a study center for the Tibetan Buddhist culture. The region is rich with Sherpa and Tamang culture as there are plenty of settlements with well preserved culture, tradition and lifestyle. People also have their unique way of living as one can behold the arts of wooden cared windows, weaved baskets, and other handicraft works. The trekking in Helambu region is a wonderful trek to experience however one needs to be well prepared in order to complete this trek in Langtang region as some of the paths are quite difficult and we'll also be camping at some of the places during our trek.
Trip Itinerary of Langtang Gosainkunda Helambu Trek In Nepal
Arrival at Kathmandu
Altitude: 1,350m/4,428ft (Kathmandu)
Upon your arrival at Kathmandu, a representative from Core Treks will pick you up from the airport and take you to your hotel. You can rest and relax for some time and after a while we'll meet for a short briefing session regarding our trek. Please feel free to ask any question regarding our trek. You'll be introduced with your tour guide as well during this session. However, if your arrival is late then the tour briefing will be shifted for the next day morning before we head for the tour.

Kathmandu to Syabrubensi
Altitude: 1,550m / 5,084ft (Syabru Besi)
Drive approx. 7 hours
Our journey starts with a roadway drive towards Syabru Bensi. Seven hour drive with the gorgeous scenery of the towns of Trishuli Bareen hills and lush forests make the drive very pleasurable. zar and Dhunche. Also the Himalayan peaks of Annapurna, Manaslu, and Ganesh are visible in the distance as we cross Kakani and the terraced.

Syabrubensi to Lama Hotel
Altitude: 2,470m / 8,101 ft. (Lama Hotel)
Walk approx. 5 hours
After having breakfast, we head towards the first part of the trail which crosses through the Bhotekoshi river and follows Langtang river. We ford the river via suspension bridge and then the trekking trail of Langtang valley gradually climbs to Bamboo forests, passing through the Landslide region. The trek brings us through scenic wilderness where we'll be treated with the sight of native wildlife with the likes of Langur monkeys, Himalayan black bears and if lucky, the red pandas.

Lama Hotel to Langtang Village
Altitude: 3,430m / 11,250 ft. (Langtang Village )
Walk approx. 5 hours
This day we trek uphill through the beautiful oak, maple, rhododendron, and hemlock forests. The valley is also filled with herds of yaks that we will get to encounter on the pastures. This village is a very old village of this region from where the views of the mountains can be seen in even more splendor and beauty.

Langtang Village to Kyanjin Gompa
Altitude: 3,830m / 12,562 ft (Kyanjin Gompa)
Walk approx. 3 hours
Our walk today is shorter but it is also acclimatizing walk. The famous cheese factory are also along the way during our trek on this day. Today will be one of the most exciting moments of the whole journey as we scale the glacial moraine with the amazing views of the Kyanjin Gompa and icefall flowing from Langtang Lirung mountain. The Kyajin Gompa is a very famous Buddhist monastery and a place of utmost significance to the local community.

Kyanjin Gompa to Chorka Ri to Kyanjin Gompa
Altitude: 4,984m / 16,347 ft (Chorka Ri)
Walk approx. 6 hours
On this day we hike up the moraine to behold the splendid ice faces and ascend a the Chorkari Ri, which is also the highest point of this trek. From here amazing breathtaking panorama view of the Langtang range can be witnessed such as Langtang Lirung, Langshisa Ri, Gyanghempo, Naya Kang, and Ganjala.

Kyanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel
Altitude: 2,470m / 8,101 ft. (Lama Hotel)
Walk approx. 5 hours
We start our descent towards the Lama hotel as we make our way back. Majestic views of the towering mountains can be enjoyed during our walk on this day. We might even encounter more of the wildlife within the ecosystem of the forest as we descend.

Lama Hotel to Thulo Syabru
Altitude: 2,235m / 7,330 ft. (Thulo Syabru)
Walk approx. 5 hour
This day the trail gently descends and then goes steeply up towards the Thulo Syabru. The trail again leads us through bamboo and rhododendron forest where we might even encounter some wildlife around. The marvelous close-up view of the Ganesh Himal can also be seen during this trail.

Thulo Syabru to Cholanpati.
Altitude: 3,654 m / 11,985 ft. (Cholanpati)
Walk approx. 6 hour
On the way of our trek we'll be taking the broad trail climbing up to Dimsa village and then the trail continues less steeply through the rhododendron and oak forests. The path after this gently ascends for awhile and follows a flat level towards Shin Gompa. Shin Gompa provides panoramic views, mesmerizing natural landscapes, and also a yak cheese factory. today our destion is in Cholanpati.

Cholanpati to Gosainkunda
Altitude: 4,300 m / 14,104 ft. (Gosainkunda)
Walk approx. 5 hour
The trail takes us through steep ascent all the way to Gosainkunda as we follow a rugged trail with dramatic views of the Mansalu, Ganesh, Langtang, and some other Tibetan peaks range. After following a ridge for the most part of the day we'll be reaching to the Lakes of Gosainkunda region. The Gosainkunda lake is surrounded by mountains around and has a great ensemble of nine other lakes as its companions. To clarify the religious significance that is prevelant among Hindu belief, the legend says that Gosainkunda was created by Shiva when he pierced a glacier with his trident to obtain water to quench his thirst after having swallowed a poison that threatened to destroy the world.

Gosainkunda to Ghopte via Laurebinayak Pass
Altitude: 3,430 m / 11,250 ft. (Ghopte) 4,610m/15,120ft. (Laurebinayak Pass)
Walk approx. 7 hour
We head towards Laurebinayak pass as we leave Gosainkunda and climb through ruddged trail. The helambu region begins at the Laurebinayak pass and descends towards the Melamchi valley. Keep looking back at the spectacular views of Manaslu and the mountains of the Ganesh Himal, as well as the now familiar Langtang Lirung. You then descend steeply to camp near Ghopte.

Ghopte to Melamchi Gaun
Altitude: 2,560 m / 8,399 ft.
Walk approx. 6 hour
We trek down through the thick forests and climb through dry river bed. Later on as we climb onward, we reach the village of Therapati. Climbing the ridge above the village gives amazing view of the Jugal area. Later we'll reach to Melamchi Gaun, our stop for the day which is surrounded by beautiful and verdant forests and is mainly inhabited by the Sherpa people. Their distinctive culture can also be witnessed in this village.

Melamchi Gaun to Tarkejhyang
Altitude: 2,590 m / 8,495 ft.
Walk approx. 5 hour
The early park of the trek descends until we cross the Melamchi stream. We'll be entering the cultural destination of the Helambu region on this day. We'll be walking upto Tarkejhyang where the Sherpa culture with its traditional village and monasteries can be observed. The stone houses are constructed close to each other with narrow alleyways separating them.

Tarkejhyang to Sermathang
Altitude: 2,610 m / 8,560 ft.
Walk approx. 4 hour
Sermathang is a village rich in culture and natural beauty. The trail is also fairly easy as we walk through a flat land alongside the verdant forest. We also cross some small streams along the way. The trail then makes a sweep around the wide valley and end between Parachin and Gangyul village. The people throughout this village mostly practice the Drukpa Kagyu Buddhism which is also the national religion of the Kingdom of Bhutan. We continue our walk through some forested area along the trail before reaching Sermathang for the overnight stay.

Sermanthang to Melamchi Bazzar to Kathmandu
Altitude: 1,350m/4,428ft (Kathmandu)

Drive approx. 3 hours
On our final day of walk, we trek towards the town of Melamchi Bazzar through the meadows and cultivated fields. The terraced fields where villagers farm are also some unique features of this region. We finally reach to Melamchi Bazzar and upon having our lunch we head back towards Kathmandu. We'll drive back to Kathmandu and back to your hotel. After resting for a bit, we'll be organizing a dinner party for our fellow guests where you'll be taken to a traditional Nepalese cuisine restaurant.

Our travel journey has now come to an end as we say our goodbyes and take you to the Tribhuvan International Airport 2 hours prior to your flight time. We'll come to pick you at your hotel and a representative will drive alongside you up till the departure gate at the airport.

Symptoms of Altitude Sickness may start once you reach 1500-2000 meters and upwards. If you gain altitude rapidly without letting your body adapt to the thin oxygen at higher altitudes, you are most likely to suffer from Altitude Sickness. But if you plan for acclimatization days to your itinerary, you are good to go.
The itinerary includes acclimatization days to avoid Altitude Sickness. The sickness is common at high altitudes. Please note that sickness is a topic to be taken very seriously. Here are some few extra preventions:
- Avoid climbing rapidly, give your body some time to adjust
- Drink more water, not less than 5 liters a day
- Eat more, eat often, and eat healthily

On average, walking time per day is 5-6 hours below 3,000m. For altitudes higher than 3,000m the average walking time is 3-5 hours per day. The walking hours may vary according to conditions but do not exceeds 6 hours mark per day.

An experienced guide will be provided for a group of 1-5. A group consisting of 6-12 individuals will be provided with 2 professional guides. The package also includes a porter for every 2 individuals.
