The route to Mera Peak around Hinku Valley falls within the complete wilderness, where permanent villages do not exist. 

Except for a few temporary settlements at Thaknag, Khare, and Kothe with smaller simple tea shops, serving as lodges. However one can get a glimpse of Sherpa culture and customs interwoven with Buddhism at Lukla town. As well as Paiya and the last village at Panggom.

The walk from Lukla, after a scenic short flight from Kathmandu / Ramechap, leads you to the mountain wilderness. Crossing high ridges and then reaching hidden corners of Khumbu at Hinku Valley.

Day 01

Arrival in Kathmandu

Welcome to Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. You'll be picked up from the airport by our representative from the Tribhuvan International Airport and taken to the hotel. There might be a short briefing session on this day and if that didn't happen it'll be held the next day.

Day 02

Preparation and Pre-Trip Meeting

After breakfast, we'll be meeting for a session where travelers will get introduced to their guides and other company representatives. They'll be briefed about the trip and all the permits regarding the trek and summit climb. Travelers may ask any question regarding the trek. The rest of your time in Kathmandu is free for further exploration or some last-minute shopping in the Thamel area.

Day 03

Flight to Lukla and Trek to Paiya

We take an early morning flight to Lukla from Kathmandu. The Lukla airport is one of the most exciting and thrilling flight experiences in the world. The scenic view of the Himalayas welcomes you to the Everest region of Nepal. Upon reaching Lukla, we start our trek towards the Chutok La Pass, and then finally we'll reach our destination for the day, the Paiya village

Day 04

Paiya to Panggom

Today, we embark on an exhilarating journey as we ascend a steep trail to conquer the Zatrawala Pass and proceed toward Zatrabok. Along this challenging path, we will be treated to awe-inspiring vistas of the majestic Numbur Himal, Kongdi Ri, Karyolang Peak, and an array of other magnificent peaks. The beauty of these natural wonders will undoubtedly leave us spellbound.

After reaching the zenith of our ascent, we begin our descent toward Khartitang. As we make our way down, the landscape transforms, revealing a fresh perspective on the surrounding terrain. The descent offers its own set of remarkable sights and discoveries, further enriching our trekking experience.

Finally, our eventful day comes to a close upon arriving at Panggom. This tranquil haven provides us with a well-deserved opportunity to rest, recharge, and relish in the accomplishments of the day's adventure.

Day 05

Panggom to Ningsow

After savoring a delicious breakfast, we resume our trek toward Kothe, eager to explore more of the breathtaking landscape that awaits us. Our path leads us down a steep descent trail, winding its way through a picturesque forest adorned with juniper and rhododendron trees. The vibrant colors and fragrant scents of the flora create a captivating atmosphere, making our journey even more enchanting.

As we navigate the trail, we are surrounded by the serenity of nature, immersing ourselves in the tranquil ambiance of the forest. Each step brings us closer to Kothe, where we anticipate finding respite and perhaps a glimpse of the local culture that thrives in this region.

Ningsow to Chhatra Khola

On this day, our journey takes us toward Tangnang as we venture deeper into the enchanting Hinku Valley. The trail ahead unfolds before us, gradually ascending amidst the majestic Himalayas. As we make our way higher, we are bestowed with a mesmerizing view of the awe-inspiring Kusum Kanguru peak.

The scenery that surrounds us is nothing short of breathtaking, with towering mountains, cascading waterfalls, and pristine landscapes that seem to stretch endlessly. The serenity of the Hinku Valley envelops us, allowing us to immerse ourselves in the grandeur of nature.

Chhatra Khola to Tangnang

Today is a crucial day dedicated to acclimatization, allowing us to adapt to the high-elevation climate. We find respite in Tangnang, a perfect spot to rest and acclimate ourselves before continuing our adventure. 

While staying in Tangnang, we have the opportunity to explore the surrounding valley, immersing ourselves in the rich local culture of the Sherpa people. We walk through the settlements, engaging with the friendly locals and gaining insights into their way of life. Their warm hospitality and unique traditions provide a fascinating glimpse into their vibrant community.

As we navigate the valley, we are treated to breathtaking views of towering peaks and dazzling glaciers. The rugged beauty of the Himalayas surrounds us, captivating our senses and leaving us in awe of nature's grandeur. Each vista is a masterpiece, inviting us to pause, reflect, and appreciate the magnificence of the mountains.

Among the notable peaks that grace our view are Chamlang, Makalu, Baruntse, Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Cho Oyu, and Kantega. The journey to the summit typically takes between 4 to 6 hours, pushing our physical and mental limits to new heights.

As the first rays of light begin to paint the sky, we reach the pinnacle of the peak. Standing atop the summit, we are greeted with a breathtaking panorama that stretches out before us. The scenic landscapes unfold, revealing a tapestry of majestic mountain peaks, valleys, and glaciers. It is a moment of pure awe and triumph, as we bask in the surreal beauty of the surroundings.

Day 13

Reserve Day for Contingency

Indeed, the weather in these mountainous regions can be unpredictable, adding an element of uncertainty to our plans. Understanding this, we have wisely reserved this day as a contingency in case the weather does not favor our summit attempt on day 12.

If the weather forecast indicates unfavorable conditions, it is essential to prioritize safety and make the prudent decision to postpone our program of scaling the peak. In such circumstances, it is wise to exercise caution and patience, as the weather can change rapidly in the mountains. Our guides and expedition leaders will closely monitor the weather patterns, providing their expertise to determine the most appropriate course of action.

Should the weather permit a smooth and safe summit attempt on day 12, we can proceed with our original plan without needing to spare this contingency day. However, if circumstances require it, we will embrace the flexibility of our itinerary and adjust accordingly, utilizing this reserved day to give ourselves the best possible chance for a successful summit bid.

Khare to Kothe

Leaving the towering mountains behind, we embark on our descent from Khare toward Tangnang. As we make our way down the trail, we gradually bid farewell to the high-altitude landscapes that have captivated us for days.

The journey back to Tangnang offers a different perspective, allowing us to appreciate the changing scenery and the transition from the alpine environment to the lower valleys. The serenity of the surroundings accompanies us, creating a peaceful atmosphere as we traverse through lush forests and picturesque landscapes.

Upon reaching Tangnang, we find comfort in the familiarity of the place. We settle in for the night, cherishing the memories and experiences of our expedition while relishing the cozy ambiance of our accommodation.

The following day, we continue our descent, further descending towards Kothey. The trail leads us through charming villages, where we may encounter locals going about their daily lives, offering a glimpse into the local culture and traditions.

Kothey becomes our haven for the night, providing a well-deserved rest after the day's journey. The tranquility of the surroundings and the satisfaction of the progress made during our trek envelop us, as we reflect on the incredible adventure we have undertaken.

Kothe to Thuli Kharka

The journey takes us through a diverse range of alpine vegetation, including towering pine trees and vibrant rhododendron forests. The rich greenery and colorful blooms create a stunning contrast against the backdrop of the majestic mountains.

Thuli Kharka to Lukla

On this day, we make our way toward Chutenga, ascending until we reach the Zatrwa La Pass. From there, our trail descends to the village of Chutenga. Finally, we reach Lukla, where we conclude our trek in the Everest region and call it a day. It marks the end of our memorable journey, and we take this time to reflect on the incredible experiences we've had in this remarkable region.

Day 17

Lukla to Kathmandu

We'll take a morning flight from Lukla to Kathmandu as we again fly over the scenic Himalayas and savor the beauty from above for one last time. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, we head back to our hotels and put down our belongings. Core Treks will organize a dinner program for the guests in a traditional Nepali restaurant where traditional cuisine will be served along with some cultural dances.

Embarking on the Mera Peak expedition with the Peak Climbing Nepal team promises 18 days filled with thrilling experiences. Our journey commences by leaving the historic city and capital of Nepal, Kathmandu, and taking a scenic 35-minute flight to Lukla. This picturesque flight sets the stage for the adventure that lies ahead. Upon arrival in Lukla, we begin our trek, heading towards Chhuthang on the first day of our tour.

Our route then takes us through the captivating Zatrawala Pass, leading us to Thuli Kharka (4300m). Here, we spend an unforgettable night, soaking in the natural beauty that surrounds us. From Thuli Kharka, our trek continues towards Kothe, where we rest and prepare for the upcoming challenges.

The next leg of our journey takes us to Thangnak (4326m), a destination enveloped in tranquility and awe-inspiring landscapes. After a restful night in Thangnak, we make our way to Khare, a land that offers breathtaking views of the mighty Mera Peak. Here, we spend two nights, allowing our bodies to acclimatize to the high altitude.

With Khare as our base, we embark on the thrilling ascent towards Mera Base Camp (5300m), where the true essence of our Himalayan adventure begins. From there, we continue our ascent, passing through Mera High Camp (5700m) before finally conquering the summit of Mera Peak (6476m).
