Trip Itinerary of Bhairav Kunda Lake Trekking in Nepal
Arrival in Kathmandu
A company representative from Core Treks will come to pick you up at the airport. After that we'll be taking you to your hotel. After taking some rest we'll meet you at our office or at your hotel and have a short briefing session regarding our travel. Feel free to ask any question you might have regarding the trek. If you want to explore the city we might as well walk around the street of Thamel and it's even possible to do some last minute shopping. There're no further activities for the day so you might as well check into the hotel.
Kathmandu to Jalbire
We take an early drive from Kathmandu after having our breakfast. Our drive will be about 4-5 hours long heading towards Jalbire. The place lies at the bank of the Balefi River and is influenced by the Newari culture. We'll be staying overnight at Jalbire as we prepare ourselves for trekking from next day onwards.
Jalbire to Chanaute
We begin our trek on this day after finishing our breakfast. We'll be walking through some villages, streams, and waterfalls as we make our way towards Chanaute. The village consists of communities from Brahmin and Chettri ethnicity.
Chanaute to Khani Gaun
Our path becomes a bit difficult as we go through a steeper path today. We walk for about 6 to 7 hours on this day. The trail is narrower as we go along. We later reach towards Khani Gaun where we'll be settling for the day. The villages are mostly occupied by Newar community.
Khani Gaun to Forest Camp
Our path today takes us through steep uphill trail through the rhododendron forest. We can encounter some wildlife including birds and mammals during our trek on this day. After about 5 hours of walk, we'll reach Forest Camp where we'll spend overnight.
Forest Camp to Pati
Our trek today is short but bit more technical and challenging. We'll be trekking through steep rocky trails. After about 4 hours we'll be reaching Pati which will be our destination for today. We'll be relaxing and resting for the rest of the day.
Pati to Bhairav Kunda
Today is the day we'll reach to the final destination of our trek, the Bhairav Kunda Lake. This lake is beautiful lake in the arms of the mountain peak as it is surrounded by the Himalayas all around. During the full moon in the month of July and August, many Hindus visit this place for their pilgrimage. We'll be staying overnight here where we'll be setting up our campsite.
Bhairav Kunda to Sherpa Gaun
Early in the morning, we walk to the top of the Bhairav Kunda view point from where amazing sunrise view of the mountain can be seen. These mountain peaks of Nepal include Langtang, Rolwaling, Jugal, and several other peaks of the Langtang region. We then take our breakfast and head down towards the village called Sherpa Gaun.
Acclimatization at Sherpa Gaun
This day has been separated as an acclimatization day for our bodies to get adjusted to the high altitude. We'll be resting and if you're up for it then we can even explore the village and the surrounding for some time. For the most part of the day we'll be resting and relaxing our bodies.
Sherpa Gaun to Larcha
On this day we'll me making our way towards the village of Larcha. Upon having our breakfast, we'll follow the trails to the small Sherpa village of Larcha which is pretty easy all along. It will take us about 4 hours to reach. This is also the last day of our trekking so we'll be savoring our journey to the fullest and rest for the day as we reach Larcha.
Larcha to Kathmandu
So after breakfast, we'll be driving back to Kathmandu which will take us about 6 to 7 hours. Upon reaching Kathmandu, we'll be taking you back to you hotel where you can rest for a while. In the evening, we'll be organizing a dinner party for our fellow guests where you'll be taken to a traditional Nepalese cuisine restaurant.
Day at Kathmandu
This day has been set aside for you to rest from the long journey and explore the Kathmandu city on your own. You can stroll around the markets of Thamel and buy some amazing souvenirs. If you have something in mind, a place you want to visit in Kathmandu, let us know and we can arrange that for you as well.
Departure
Our travel journey has now come to an end as we say our goodbyes and take you to the Tribhuvan International Airport 2 hours prior to your flight time. We'll come to pick you at your hotel and a representative will drive alongside you up till the departure gate at the airport.

If you gain altitude rapidly without letting your body adapt to the thin oxygen at higher altitudes, you are most likely to suffer from Altitude Sickness. But if you plan for acclimatization days to your itinerary, you are good to go.

Trekking Equipment

Walking Hours
On average, walking time per day is 5-6 hours below 3,000m. For altitudes higher than 3,000m the average walking time is 3-5 hours per day. The walking hours may vary according to conditions but do not exceeds 6 hours mark per day.
Hiring a Porter/Guide
An experienced guide will be provided for a group of 1-5. A group consisting of 6-12 individuals will be provided with 2 professional guides. The package also includes a porter for every 2 individuals.
