Hindu Pilgrimage Tour In Nepal Overview

Hinduism being the main religion of Nepal, the country offers a wide range of pilgrimage sites. CoreTreks has crafted a unique and compact Hindu Pilgrimage Tour Package in Nepal. The tour is mostly popular among Hindu devotees and researchers. Since 85% of the Nepalese identified themselves as Hindus according to 2011 Nepal census, The Constitution of Nepal have established a call for protection of old aged religion. The predominantly Hindu country abounds all manner of shrines visited by devotees from all around the world.

The Hindu Pilgrimage Tour in Nepal starts with a visit to the Kailashnath Mahadev Statue, the tallest Shiva temple, which is situated in Sanga about 20 km far from Kathmandu. The statue is a remarkable example of Nepalese engineering which took 7 years of construction. After the visit of Mahadev Statue, we will visit Pashupatinath Temple, famous and sacred Hindu temple located on the banks of the Bagmati River approximately 5 km north-east of Kathmandu. The temple attracts pilgrims throughout the year from all around the world. It sees more visitors during festivals like Shivaratri. Our tour in Kathmandu ends after visiting Budhanilkantha which is situated below the Shivapuri Hill at the northern end of the valley.

Our next location will be Muktinath via Pokhara. We will fly to Jomsom from Pokhara after visiting Sarankot for the golden sunrise which is located only a few kilometers from Pokhara. During our time in Pokhara we will also visit places such as Davis Fall, Gupteshor, Bindabashini temple, World Peace Stupa and Tibetan Refugee Camp. Upon landing at Jomsom, we will drive to Muktinath, a Vishnu temple sacred to both Hindus and Buddhists. The temple is located in Muktinath Valley at the foot of Thorong La mountain pass. It is known as Mukti Kshetra within Hindus which means the “place of liberation”.

On the way back from Muktinath to Jomsom, we will pass through Kagbeni, a village in Upper Mustang of the Himalayas. While in Kagbeni, we will also visit Kag Chode, an ancient Buddhist Temple at Kagbeni. Then we will return to Pokhara from Jomsom by flight and drive towards Kathmandu. Sightseeing In Kathmandu

After breakfast, we will drive to Sanga to visit the tallest Shiva statue in the world, Kailashnath Mahadev. The temple is beautifully designed and engineered which took 7 years. The drive to Sanga is about an hour from Kathmandu. Then we will return to Kathmandu to visit Pashupatinath, the temple where Hindu pilgrims from all over the world come to visit. We will end the day after visiting Budhanilkantha temple, situated below the Shivapuri Hill near Kathmandu. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Drive To Pokhara, Overnight Stay At Pokhara

We start early today since we have a long drive to Pokhara of about 7 hours. After having our breakfast, we start our drive. Enjoying the curved highways and beautiful scenery as we head outside the valley. The drive to Pokhara is somewhat thrilling experience in itself. There will be several break stops before finally arriving to Pokhara. The drive is pretty exhausting, so we spend the night at the hotel.

Optional Trip: You could also choose to go rafting in Trishuli River if it’s something that excites you, the cost will be $40 per person inclusive of transport, 2 hours of rafting and lunch.

Visit In Sarangkot & Sightseeing In Pokhara

Early morning drive to Sarangkot from the hotel in order to see the sunrise. The driving takes approximately 45 minutes to reach Sarangkot. After enjoying our morning with a beautiful wide view of the mountains we get back to the hotel. We will have breakfast and prepare for the Pokhara tour. Pokhara contains numerous tourist destinations and is widely famous among the locals too. Davis Fall, Gupteshor, Bat Cave, Bindabishini Temple, World Peace Stupa, and Tibetan Refugee Camp are some of the major destinations within Pokhara that we will be visiting. Our overnight stay will be at the hotel.

Fly To Jomsom & Drive To Muktinath, Overnight Stay At Muktinath

On this day, we wake up early. After having our breakfast, we head towards the airport to fly to Jomsom. The flight will be of around 25 minutes. Upon reaching Jomsom, we drive to Muktinath, which is known to be a famous pilgrimage site for Buddhists as well as Hindus. It is believed that bathing in the water of Muktinath ensures salvation after death. If you happen to be in Muktinath during September, you might encounter one of Nepal’s unique festivals of horse racing, known as Yartung. After exploring Muktinath for the day, we spend our night at a hotel.

Muktinath To Jomsom Via Kagbeni

Today we will return to Jomsom but through a different route. This time we will go through Kagbeni, a village located in Upper Mustang. Here, you will explore the village full of mud houses and a very different lifestyle than that of other region of Nepal. The place is ideal to explore Tibetan culture and a wonderful opportunity to scope out the Himalayan range from up close. Kagbeni holds one of the oldest monastery in Nepal known as Kag Chode Thupten Samphel Ling Monastery, which will be the highlight of this day. We spend the night at a hotel in Jomsom and prepare for tomorrows flight to Pokhara.

Fly To Pokhara & Drive To Kathmandu

Today we fly back to Pokhara from Jomsom. After having breakfast, we board the plane and within half an hour we will land at Pokhara. We start the day early as we have to drive to Chitwan National Park which is around 149km from Pokhara. The drive will be about 4 hours. After reaching Chitwan we will visit a few places around the national parks, taking pictures of the beautiful scenery. Then we will have our dinner and call it a day. Overnight stay will be at a hotel.

This day is especially reserved for optional touring. On this day, you make the decision. Whether you want to experience an hour long scenic Mountain Flight, cable car ride to Chandragiri, or relax inside the Garden of Dreams, it’s all up to your preferences. Better yet, you could enjoy the day touring and shopping around Thamel Bazaar. We end the day with a delightful farewell dinner. Overnight stay will be at the hotel.
